The journey is as important as the destination. A little background…. Fear – monster, or helper? Minnesota – State #16. May 23, 2015. We had a few hours to relax before race packet pickup, so we headed back to the hotel to hang out in the hotel swimming pool with the cutest little girl ever. Having Erika and Jenni along on this trip meant we got to spend some precious hours watching this bright, expressive little girl enjoy her world. It was the highlight of our trip. After lunch, Jenni’s Mom, Sue ...

The journey is as important as the destination. A little background…. I am a retired, 64 year old gal with a passion for family and running, and a penchant to share experiences through pictures and words. I can be a bit of a rambler so grab a cup of coffee, get comfortable, and jog down a path or two with me. Indiana – State #21. August 5, 2016. Running the 50 states. Missouri – State #20. The journey is as important as the destination. A little background…. The Little Yellow Rose →. Kentucky – State #15. April 10, 2015. We packed every piece of warm race clothing we owned, and boarded the plane for Louisville, KY with fear and trepidation. Next stop was the Race Expo, also located on Keeneland’s facility. We picked up our packets and posed for the customary race pic (with a little twist) before heading back outdoors again. After this, it was back to the hotel for a quick nap; the 3 hour t...

The journey is as important as the destination. A little background…. Monthly Archives: July 2015. Wyoming – State #17. July 23, 2015. Wyoming ended up being the last western state on the schedule for many reasons. Races scheduled in Wyoming are few and far between, travel logistics tend to be challenging, and all of the races we looked at were at high elevation and extremely hilly. With … Continue reading →. The journey is as important as the destination. A little background…. Rhode Island – State #18 →. Wyoming – State #17. July 23, 2015. We had a fun crowd on board for our Wyoming adventure. Two of our nieces, Janille Baker and Sharon Conrad, had driven from Baker, Nevada and EskDale, Utah to join us. We checked out the cabin, and although small, it was clean and seemed to meet our needs, as well as giving us a flavor of “backcountry” Wyoming. Melodie presented her with a gift to mark the occasion. We stop...

Thursday, January 15, 2015. I got stopped by an older gentlemen right inside the door, he was one of the greeters, and a very chatty one at that. As we got talking we found out there were people we both knew. (Papageorge's for anyone curious, he goes to church with Harry) ☺. Back to the airplanes.I'd been here before with my family many years ago, but they've definitely added some exhibits, and it would have been nice to actually be able to read them. lol. I love this picture. Then we headed back home.

Saturday, August 16, 2014. Hike to Stella Lake. Wednesday, August 13, 2014. BBQ at Snake Creek. Tom and Janille and Ben and Chandra's families were camping up Snake Creek, and Chandra had planned a birthday BBQ for Breanna, Christian, and Jenna's birthdays. We had a great time and then came home and slept in our own beds. ☺. When I was younger we used to come up Snake Creek all the time, but I hadn't been up there in a while, I had forgotten how pretty it was. We even got a little bit of hiking in. ;).

Monday, September 29, 2014. The rear entryway.progress and pictures. We'll start at the very beginning. when my family moved into this house in 1992, the rear entryway was actually just a porch that was covered with a roof. In 2001? We're not totally sure of the date because Kenneth and I did not live there at this point) mom wanted to turn it into an entryway to store all of dad's dairy clothes and boots. Great idea! This project was finally kick started. We had two doors for awhile. ;). The wall that w...

Thursday, May 28, 2015. Sunday, May 24, 2015. Catching up on April. Breakfast with these two. It must have been the feast of unleavened bread because we don't normally eat tortillas for breakfast. Young Authors Fair, but Aidan was too quick and I didn't get a picture of him. Looks like we went on a walk. Dancing a jig. I got a recording but was not given permission to post in a public place. :D. A couple of Sunday's in April, we went over and helped install some cabinets in Tom and Janille's laundry room.

Friday, February 20, 2015. This picture is just proof that earlier in the day Clara didn't look like such a ragamuffin! Crystal and Ashley were making cakes for an upcoming wedding and offered to bake a cake for me, which I was thrilled about, and then they ended up making a little cake and cupcakes too! That was a complete time savor for me. (Thanks ladies! We went with the usual pizza party because we had a lot going on that weekend. The joy that is taking a family photo. Thursday, July 31, 2014. Picnic on the Mountain. Our family has a few birthdays in July, so we usually use the birthday's as an excuse to plan a picnic in the mountains! This year was no exception, so this time it was on Kenneth's birthday. Tuesday, July 29, 2014. Scenery, Kids, and House Stuff. We're spoiled bums, and we are so glad to have A/C and be done with the swamp cooler! Trying to get this back entry sealed up so that we finally knock down a pass through to my laundry room. :p. The Way I See It | a means for me to channel my creative energy
A means for me to channel my creative energy. The Way I See It. My Break-Up with Camp. This is the first summer, since the age of six that I haven’t attended or worked at camp. Since going into first grade until going into fourth grade, I attended a day camp, then I had a six year stint at sleep away camp. But it wasn’t until returning to the same day camp as a staff member when I was going into eleventh grade did I truly find my home at summer camp. Day One on the Job: The Commute. I get to the subway a...
The Road Back to Running
The Road Back to Running. Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Volksläufe, Michigan - July 4, 2015. Anyone who has been following this blog for the past 12 months or more will remember this unique running festival that takes place in Michigan every year - I ran the 20K/5K double last year. There's Frankenmuth right near the middle of the pic. Not bad at all. The Clinton River trail provides quite the contrast to a 24-Hour Fitness treadmill. Milling around at the start I see last year's winner, Dani, who is now a prof...

Runner Reborn
Enjoying Life, One Stride at a Time. Monday, October 1, 2012. 2012 Chicago Marathon Temperatures. It's looking like the Chicago Marathon will have some ideal temperatures for fast times this year (especially for this guy from Miami who hasn't run much in temps under the upper 70's.). Weather.com is predicting a low of 40° and high of 53°! Last year was a cool 65°F, so 15-20° cooler will feel downright chilly! Welcom to race week 2012. Recent hard workouts for reasons unknown.
