Today was Food Day | Suburban Homestead

https://suburbanhomestead.wordpress.com/2007/10/28/today-was-food-day

Today was Food Day. October 28, 2007, 8:44 pm. Well, I started my goat cheese this morning. By the time I get up tomorrow morning, I should be able to spoon the curds into molds to drain. I hope to have chevre for dinner tomorrow night. We made applesauce with the last of the apples this afternoon. My kitchen smells delicious with the sweet-spicy smell of the apples. Last of the Farmers Market? October 25, 2007, 8:33 pm. I went by my usual farmer’s market tonight to pick up veggies for the week. This is the last week for this particular market. They only run from May through October. One of the farmers told me about another market that runs almost year round, though. I may try it next week. Tonight I picked up lettuce, radishes, baby collards, and eggplant. I guess this is positively the last eggplant I will get this year. I will savor every bite. Goat Cheese to Come.

Garden Update | Suburban Homestead

https://suburbanhomestead.wordpress.com/2007/11/05/garden-update

November 5, 2007, 10:02 pm. The garlic is coming along well, as are the snow peas. But the little greens seedlings are growing very slowly. We don’t have much water to give them and we have had no rain for two weeks. Tomorrow night or the next we are predicted to have frost. Let’s see if they survive it. If they don’t, it is goodbye to the garden for the winter. Leave a Comment so far. Feed for comments on this post. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Address never made public).

Telecommuting | Suburban Homestead

https://suburbanhomestead.wordpress.com/2007/10/29/telecommuting

October 29, 2007, 8:56 pm. I had asked my supervisors if I could work from home on a regular basis. I thought I could at least cut down my driving – and carbon emmissions. And I am much more productive working at home. They are thinking about it, as far as me being being to do it on a regular basis. But in the meantime, I am getting to work from home one day this week so that I can work around an appointment. I’m really psyched! I hope to show them that telecommuting is a benefit for both them and me.

The Year is Ending | Suburban Homestead

https://suburbanhomestead.wordpress.com/2007/12/29/the-year-is-ending

The Year is Ending. December 29, 2007, 9:16 am. The year is ending in tears from the sky, and that is good. We have gotten rain many days in the last week or so. The winter garden is growing much better. The mustard and collard greens are so fresh and succulent. Leave a Comment so far. Feed for comments on this post. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. This was our first Halloween in the new house, which meant big business! Suburban Homestead | Just another WordPress.com weblog

January 6, 2008, 10:12 am. Things are quiet at the start of the new year. The greens and garlic are still hanging on in the garden. We have been poring over seed catalogs and deciding what to plant in the spring. The bee equipment we ordered has started coming in. Now to assemble our hives and set them up! It’s funny to think that in a couple of months or so we will have a few thousand head of livestock in our own yard. It will be an interesting process, to be sure. The Year is Ending. I ordered the bees...

The Not-So Suburban Homestead Blog | Chronicles of a Gardening Family

The Not-So Suburban Homestead Blog. Chronicles of a Gardening Family. A New Back to Eden Garden! In Back to Eden. February 23, 2014. We finally got around to installing a Back to Eden garden at our new home, here in S.E. Oklahoma. We had purchased several sets of onions a few weeks back, and with the busyness of life, just haven’t been able to get them into the ground. Thankfully, we got it done, after lots of work, and the onions are ready to grow! Kittan was prowling around while we were working. :).

Suburban Homesteader - Too much rosemary, not enough thyme!

Too much rosemary, not enough thyme! How to Milk a Coconut. July 18, 2015. It’s been three and a half weeks since I began a strict autoimmune protocol (AIP) diet to address a few of my health problems. One of the staples that I was absolutely bummed about giving up was dairy. We have an amazing local farmers’ market vendor who sells the creamiest, non-homogenized whole milk with the cream sitting at the top of the gallon. Ohhhh, glorious dairy. Then I saw it…. Who knows, but I was going to. This girl...
