The View from New Hampshire: September 2006

http://viewfromnh.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html

Friday, September 29, 2006. Energy Resources - Stock and Flow. If an energy resource has no flow, no matter how low the consumption rate, the resource will eventually be exhausted. Therefore, the sustainability of an energy resource is solely dependent on the flow. As long as the consumption rate is less than or equal to the flow, the energy is being used in a sustainable manner. As demand continues to increase and supply drops, price will rise, so clearly oil will become an energy source of the past.

http://viewfromnh.blogspot.com/2006/11/climate-change-report-by-economist-sir.html

Monday, November 13, 2006. Climate Change Report by Economist Sir Nicholas Stern. Sir Nicholas Stern, Chief Economist and Senior Vice-President of the World Bank from 2000 to 2003, released a climate change report on 30 October 2006. The report suggests that the global economy could be forced to shrink by 20% due to the effects of climate change. However, the report says taking action now would only reduce global gross domestic product (GDP) by 1%. Here are some of the findings of the report. The impacts...

The View from New Hampshire: Hiking Section: Denver Glacier Trail - Skagway, AK

http://viewfromnhhiking.blogspot.com/2006/07/denver-glacier-trail-skagway-ak.html

The View from New Hampshire: Hiking Section. This section of my blog will capture my outdoor adventures. Most of my adventures are hiking trips, but I enjoy outdoor activities of all kinds. Most of my outdoor adventures take place in the mountains of New England, but I have been out west to Colorado, Wyoming, Washington, and Oregon. I went on a 30-day NOLS North Cascades Mountaineering course during the summer of 2003. I was active in the NHOC at the University of New Hampshire while I was there. Alaska ...

THE Northern Lights: Bringin Em Up Brouillard. Thursday, December 29, 2005. Christmas Day with our Families. Here are some pics from Christmas. We had such a wonderful time! As usual, it went by too quickly. Dad cookin' the omelettes. OH YEAH - YUM! Mom can bring home the bacon. Fry it up on a griddle. Pat and Fran diggin' in. Three guesses on who is holding the shovel. Hint - it's not Rick). Derek discovering his toys Christmas morning. His basketball and soccer ball were the big hits. Here are a couple...

THE Northern Lights: Bringin Em Up Brouillard. Friday, January 27, 2006. Hmm, frozen blueberries SEEMED like a good idea for a snack. But will the blue dye ever come out of his jeans, the high chair seat cover, his bib and my shirt? Yeah, I'm thinking "no." He had the blue under his nails for two days - it looked like we hadn't bathed him in weeks - LOL! BUT, look how much fun he's having? Posted by The Brouillard Family @ 9:40 AM. THE Northern Lights: Bringin Em Up Brouillard. Friday, August 26, 2005. Memories of Grandma T. Here are a few nice memories of time spent with Grandma. She loved music and she was good at it. That was something she was proud of. When I think about her love of flower arranging, music, crafts, I think of what a very creative, artistic person she was. I admire that creativity very much. As I'm writing this I also remember she wrote a lot of poetry! To be here with my Grandma! What did they say? It was defin...

It was a gorgeous day. We thought we'd take Derek on his first Pony Ride! So into the Pony Ride line we head, with ticket in hand. Me with camera prepped, and Rick pointing out the ponies to Derek. Here are some pics;. No, Dad, I don't wanna go! Get me off this thing! For the love of God, NO MORE!

I was comparing them to his earlier photos can't believe how big he is getting. It goes by so quickly! What's amazing about these ultrasound photos is that the baby is only about 4 inches long. It's incredible that all body parts and organs are formed so early and SO SMALL! Posted by The Brouillard Family @ 4:40 AM. Thoughts of the Day. On Sa...

viewfromnablus | A month teaching music in Nablus, Palestine–and other writings about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict

January 1, 2011 · 10:32 pm. Day 16 – New Year’s Day in Rafidia. I’d love to actually become proficient in Arabic, even marginally so. It is such a hard language. The sounds and words just don’t stick in my head very well. There were some fancy boutiques (mixed in among the more typical shop front groceries and butchers) and even. Complete with dressed up waiters who show you to your table. It felt so much more like home, or Europe, without. January 1, 2011 · 9:28 pm. The difference is very clear. So I fi...

The view from natural Florida. Photos from natural Florida…with stories that bring them to life. Wise Words Wednesday: Some favorite nature quotes by John Muir. John Muir was American’s most famous naturalist and conservationist. Some of his quotes are among the favorite nature quotes of all time. Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul alike. You can find many more beautiful words on the Sierra Club John Muir Exhibit.

Observations and images in retirement. August 10, 2015. Lettie on Long Island. Dressed in my blue patent leather pumps with kitten heels and blue coat with its swingy hem and oversized buttons, I had boarded the LIRR at the Farmingdale station. Now the train was rocketing into the East River tunnel to its destination in New York City. I dug in my purse to check the ticket and letter. Did I have the right day? Did I have the right ticket? Did I have the subway token? 8212; David Brooks. At the concert hal...

Weimaraner Chronicles

Monday, July 02, 2007. Pat, the doggies, and I hit the trails this past weekend, and what a beautiful weekend it was. Aside from a couple porcupine quills (ahem. Lincoln) and a sprained ankle (me) a good time was had by all. We hiked in the Dry River trail about 5 miles to the junction with the Isolation Trail and found a great established camp site. Once we set up camp, we discovered that Luna REALLY liked the tent! The doggies were quite exhausted and made themselves right at home! Is that Cesar Millan?
