Virtual Environments

Thursday, 11 December 2008. So, we have now finally finished the project and have put everything together using Premier Pro. This project has been quite interesting and fun to do, although stressful at the same time! I enjoyed making the toy train move along with the light shining, I felt this was quite enjoyable to watch so should be no problem to entertain children with this advert! As well as using the Biped (again this could be improved on had I figured out how to fix the envelopes problem). The fina...

Virtual Environments: Final Group Video

http://www.virtualenvironmentslisa.blogspot.com/2008/12/final-group-video.html

Thursday, 11 December 2008. The final group video is shown above. Some changes have been made to each of the scenes:. As we all created our silhouette's differently, some of us were unable to put a question mark material onto the body, so we came to the conclusion that it was best to take the question marks off of Rich's scenes so that it would flow with the rest of the scenes and be consistent throughout instead. Rich also changed the speed of his camera so that it went slightly faster.

Virtual Environments: My Silhouette & Biped

http://www.virtualenvironmentslisa.blogspot.com/2008/12/my-silhouette-biped.html

Thursday, 4 December 2008. My Silhouette and Biped. Here is a silhouette I have created of a child, seeing as the models Rich and Luke made were not able to be scaled down to size to portray a child's height. After modelling the silhouette, I then went on to learn how to use the Biped tool which I found extremely useful. Once this was done, I then had to add a 'skin' modifier to the body, and then select all the biped parts which meant that the biped was now connected to the body. My Silhouette and Biped.

Virtual Environments: November 2008

http://www.virtualenvironmentslisa.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

Saturday, 29 November 2008. I have now learnt how to use the 'reactor' tool (after many frustrating hours! Following a tutorial - http:/ www.youtube.com/watch? Link found through Abby's blog). The reactor tool basically allows you to have objects fall randomly when hit by another object. So I thought this would be extremely useful for my scene, instead of animating each block on its own which would be very time consuming. Below is a video of the reactor tool being tested out. Note: I mentioned previously...

Virtual Environments: First Group Video (Draft) & Presentation Thoughts

http://www.virtualenvironmentslisa.blogspot.com/2008/12/first-video-draft-presentation-thoughts.html

Tuesday, 9 December 2008. First Group Video (Draft) and Presentation Thoughts. The first group video that was prepared for the YMCA presentation is shown above. We did not get to show this video as my scene only finished rendering after the presentation, and some of the files that had been saved on Premier Pro didn't seem to work properly which was a shame. As you can see there are a lot of mistakes and tweaking needs to be done to my scene, as well as other members' of the group. There is no music!

Virtual Environments: wk 10: Did you know that lights have bones?

http://paulsvirtualenvironments.blogspot.com/2008/11/wk-10-did-you-know-that-lights-have.html

Tuesday, 25 November 2008. Wk 10: Did you know that lights have bones? Captains log, Star date 569709: Well yes they do. mine do anyway! 4 The problems started when I linked the cable to the lighting case because when I moved the light case the cable followed the centre of the case and not the point that it enters into the case. As you can see below it messes itself up by turning inside out! Now I have done one light I can copy it for the other lights and start to animate them all over again! PS Just for...

Thursday, 11 December 2008. Wk 12: The last legs. Captains log, Star date 569716: Me, Matt and Amy presented our work so far on Tuesday, it was just a shame that we did not have all of our rooms rendered. We explained our storyboard and the concept of our advert which is simple and hopefully understand-abubble! Below is a shot of my beloved characters! Some are grooving some are jumping around whilst others are head banging or waving their arms. I went for the cheesy operator effect which is why I'm not ...

Chris Cook Virtual Environments. 3rd year Virtual Environments project. Saturday, 27 September 2008. On to stage three it is then. (Its 2:30 and I have been staring at this for hours going slightly insane so maybe I will take a day off) Stage three tomorrow it is. Chris Cook, signing out. Tuesday, 23 September 2008. Virtual Environments: problems, corrections and final thoughts.

http://maria-ramsbottom.blogspot.com/2008/12/problems-corrections-and-final-thoughts.html

Thursday, 11 December 2008. Problems, corrections and final thoughts. There were a number of problems that occurred during the project;. The first, as previously mentioned was with the people drinking. the glasses just wouldn't not match the hands. and after trying to move the glass in nearly every frame, i decided to just delete them. originally the scene was much darker and it was very difficult to see them any way. 11 December 2008 at 05:37. Virtual Environments: knocking down the pins

http://maria-ramsbottom.blogspot.com/2008/12/knocking-down-pins.html

Tuesday, 9 December 2008. Knocking down the pins. To make the pins fall down i had to use reactor. The only thing that i had left to do was to animate the ball so it looks like something is knocking them down. i did this by making sure the auto key was on and simply moved it to the last frame. I had a slight problem that the ball wasn't moving fast enough, so it would get there after the pins were knocked down. there is still that problem on the actual clip, but not on the trial above.

Virtual Environments: man walking

http://maria-ramsbottom.blogspot.com/2008/12/man-walking.html

Tuesday, 9 December 2008. I found the footsteps tool effective, i did find it quite limiting. in that the key frames could not be moved, and as a result, the man had to walk at the beginning. it also wasn't possible to move the limbs when the footsteps was used. Thursday, 11 December 2008. Wk 12: Another short tutorial. Captains log, Star date 569719: Just incase no-one knows what I did to create my walking 'geezer' I'll give another demo on how I did it. First I created a biped (I didn't bother altering the parameters for this demo):. Then I activated footsteps and clicke 'multiple footsteps'. After a little faffing I found that 25 steps was best for mine. Well wasn't that simple-with-no-actual-need-for-this-demo! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Wk 11: anim...

Virtual Environments: the new man

http://maria-ramsbottom.blogspot.com/2008/12/new-man.html

Tuesday, 2 December 2008. After discovering that the previous man we made had problems when we moved the limbs, we had no choice but to start again. this was because we thought it would be quicker to start again then try to sort the problems with the previous person. From the pictures above it is possible to see that the problem no longer exists, so the man should be able to move freely. This is the old person, plus Richard made this. Give him credit! 12 December 2008 at 05:10. 13 December 2008 at 04:01.

http://paulsvirtualenvironments.blogspot.com/2008/12/wk-11-army-of-ordinary-people.html

Monday, 1 December 2008. Wk 11: An army of ordinary people! Captains log, Star date 569711: After a day of hard-slave labour me and Matt finished hair-cutting and dressing the characters. Would you like to meet them? Let me introduce Barry, Dave, Emmanuel, Gary, Moses, Fiona, Gabby, Jessica and Kate! Below are shots of them and How I boned them. More importantly I made a short video to break up the monotonous hours of modelling! Good old Microstar, Powerpod thingies! Or was it Subbuteo? Wk 12: To conclude.

Generally talking, this module is very interesting and it helps to develop 3Ds max skills every year better and better. I feel more confident using the program, I also learnt new modelling techniques and I enjoyed the assessment. Then I was creating a bump map from the colour map. Later I came to Image-Ajustments-Levels, where I could make it lighter or darker.
