mindfulness – the palm at the end of the mind
https://goldfeatheredbird.com/tag/mindfulness
The palm at the end of the mind. Matters of body, mind, and living in the moment. December 3, 2015. During one of my meditation groups last week, we discussed gratitude and being thankful. While the teacher mused on the snicker of her kids, but the profound statements that would come out of their mouths, I thought about why we tend to minimize gratitude and being thankful. To really feel and experience gratitude, is to be truly present in the moment. It isn’t complaining about what was lost or ...That, I...

The palm at the end of the mind. Matters of body, mind, and living in the moment. December 10, 2015. In the throws of many complicated emotions and contraction, it’s always surprising what makes me stop and notice:. December 3, 2015. As someone who studies shame and scarcity and fear, if you asked me, ‘What is the most terrifying, difficult emotion we experience as humans? I would say joy, says Brown. When we lose our tolerance for vulnerability, joy becomes foreboding. So what we do in moments o...To re...

The Yogi Runner Girl. A girls journey to finding herself through yoga and running. Race Recap: 2016 Indianapolis Half Marathon! Bluerub (it worked perfectly). I normally use Vaseline but it was not working on my long runs so I knew I needed something else . My dad never has food in the house, I thought ahead and brought overnight oats for breakfast in the morning but not so much for dinner. So I went to Noodles and got some mac n cheese with chicken. I was home by 7:45 and sleep by 9. You are commenting ...

Joghard: Leather fly rod case
http://joghard.blogspot.com/2014/09/leather-fly-rod-case.html
Monday, September 8, 2014. Leather fly rod case. 52" long. Over 400 hand stitches. 7 trout. 13 flies. Mahogany antique finish. Last minute change was adding this piece to close off the reel case. This was easily the most difficult sewing. The original idea wouldn't have been nearly this cool though. All told there are 13 flies on the case. Probably my favorite image is the trout tail that I added last minute when I couldn't figure out what to put in that space. March 05, 2015. My ultra race report -.

Running on My Time
Running on My Time. Wednesday, October 16, 2013. I had a half marathon this past weekend and had the opportunity to wear some new gear when I raced! This is great not only because I loved the gear, but it meant I actually wore something different for a race than I have for the past couple years. Champion sent me an amazing sports bra to try out! The All-Out Support Sports Bra. Next was a new shirt, the Champion Vapor PowerTrain Tee. It did not ride up and show my mid-rift (no one wants to see that)!

Why do runners gain weight? August 21, 2016. I do think that it is important to keep a daily food diary. The calories that we do not burn during the day are stored as fat. There are several web sites and apps to keep a daily calorie count. A couple of good examples are the MyFitnessPal app for smartphones and SuperTracker. 8220;Man imposes his own limitations, don’t set any”. January 27, 2016. February 7, 2016. Running on Octane
Week 08 - Less Than 50 Days to Go! Onto the highlights of the week…. For the long run, I was back up in Greenville. Since I had a somewhat low cadence average from the long ride, my quads felt like lead. I’m sure the fact that riding for that long attributed to it, but I had plenty of low cadence efforts strewn throughout the ride so I had a hunch it would come back to bite me later. There was a fellow along the trail that was offering water and Nuun. The water was great because it was cold. Week 09 - 2n...

Ask the Yogi Runner Series. August 12, 2015. ROO #143: Brogan Graham on Why You Should Show Up to November Project. Photo Design by Ethan Wright-Magoon of Bentforkz. This isn’t little. This isn’t like something you know. You do not know what this looks like and I don’t care if you’re a great athlete or not, if your listening to this, you have to experience it. It is not like your running club, it’s not like a boot camp cause it’s way fucking weird and it’s really hard. Listen to the Podcast via WordPress.

Running on One Good Hip. Thoughts and pictures from a running Librarian. Proud owner of 1 broken hip from 2014. Race, Rest, Race, Rest, Race…. August 2, 2015. August 2, 2015. I’ve not ran in a week since Thunder Run 24. Before Thunder Run I had a slight thigh strain that I would class as a discomfort. Certainly as a runner who clocks 70 miles a week regularly I am used to suffering discomfort and even enjoy it to a degree. 1) Learn the difference between discomfort and pain. 2) Do the sock test.
