The Peak Condition Project - Emily

Sunday, December 13, 2009. Before I wax poetic and all that about this experience, I really want to express my gratitude to . . . My halfside, Pacato, the best teammate EVER (who never broke a sweat no matter what kind of mood I threw at him). Patrick and Chen, who ran the show and led the way (particularly, Patrick, in the areas of enthusiasm, knowledge, encouragement, and balance). My core group, Shelly, Naomi, Denise, and Jonti, for their empathy, humor, and wonderful example. I just finished my final...

The Peak Condition Project - Emily: Just Took a Peek at This Morning's Workout...

http://thepeakconditionproject-emily.blogspot.com/2009/12/just-took-peek-at-this-mornings-workout.html

Saturday, December 5, 2009. Just Took a Peek at This Morning's Workout. After four sets of. 1 minute and 45 second planks, my. Post-workout may look a little like this. Excuse me, sir? Could you pass me my banana? I don't think I'm going to get there before lunch.". December 6, 2009 at 4:46 AM. True that. I remember seeing a post by E, that talked about spending an hour on the floor after a set of planks. Totally know what he was taling about now! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

The Peak Condition Project - Emily: November 2009

http://thepeakconditionproject-emily.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

Sunday, November 29, 2009. Letting Go of Old Habits. It's 11 pm, and I just hung up my apron for the day. With less than 2 weeks left(! To celebrate with after Day 90. And I wondered about whether I would jump rope the day I eat them. Saturday, November 28, 2009. I'm feeling a little burned out on routines, but now that I've finished the day's strength exercises and eaten some lunch, I wanted to pop in and share this episode. Of Gourmet's Diary of a Foodie. Monday, November 23, 2009. Being that I'm from ...

The Peak Condition Project - Emily: Two Miles in the Snow . . . Uphill Both Ways

http://thepeakconditionproject-emily.blogspot.com/2009/12/two-miles-in-snow-uphill-both-ways.html

Wednesday, December 2, 2009. Two Miles in the Snow . . . Uphill Both Ways. We belong to the Park Slope Food Coop. Which has something of a reputation. It's about a half mile from our house, but two cartons of eggs, a butternut squash, sweet potatoes, onions, eight gazillion bananas, milk (for Pacato), six pieces of frozen salmon, a box of clementines (mmm . . . clementines), whatever else looks good and in season, and $137 later, it feels like miles and miles and miles. Details, details. . . . And, you k...

The Peak Condition Project - Emily: September 2009

http://thepeakconditionproject-emily.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

Monday, September 28, 2009. I say it's time for a recipe swap! I've adopted cumin seeds, thanks to Naomi; gone crazy for figs at Shelly's suggestion; and Jonti and Denise, I still haven't quite gotten down the hard-boiled egg peeling. What else is going on in your PCP kitchens? I've been using a lot of different whole grains: oats, quinoa, brown rice, and I recently found some farro (delicious! Alice Waters's cookbook, Vegetables,. 3 shallots, diced. 1 small cucumber, seeded and diced. Speaking of freezi...

The Peak Condition Project - Shelly: October 2009

http://thepeakconditionproject-shelly.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, 29 October 2009. Day 45 : Halfway There! When I'm about midway through my PCP workout, I'm feeling pretty great. The early am sleepiness has shaken off, my heart is pumping, there's fresh oxygenated blood coursing through my body, I hit the groove and my mind is clear. That's pretty much where I'm at right now on day 45. I'm now seeing (and feeling! I'm betting the 90 day group is also feeling fairly fine - congrats to you guys on a huge achievement! Wishing a fabulous day and a big HOO YEA.

The Peak Condition Project - Naomi: The final day

http://thepeakconditionproject-naomi.blogspot.com/2009/12/final-day.html

Tuesday, December 22, 2009. Hi everyone. It's great to read all of your final day posts and it was equally great partaking in the PCP with you all. This is just a quick final post to let you all know how I'm doing. I've not been anywhere near a PC for a few days as I was staying in a forest in a hill station in southern India for the past five days. It's been totally blissful. Thanks to Chen and Patrick for all your knowledge and mentoring and I would love to do the advanced PCP next year! Thanks for the...

Friday, November 20, 2009. Day 67."Oh my. What indentations you have"! In your stomach. Noticing some nice indents from those ab exercises. That's why I love (sometimes hate) those planks. RRrr.90 secs.maybe the love is less intense. November 20, 2009 at 7:01 AM. You look super buff, Denise! November 20, 2009 at 10:05 AM. I cant believe you love plank, but yes, it is effective. Can you believe were doing 90second sets now! November 20, 2009 at 10:17 AM. Shoot us some new pics, Denise! Day 67.Oh my.

Wednesday, September 30, 2009. Day 16 - Chop Chop. Day 16 finds me up earlier than normal with the PCP. Last night was a late working night. Time spent going to the gym (rrrrrr.just cause I am not able to jump right now) did not give enough time to chop the head of cauliflower normally done. Food: Recipe swapping is a good idea. Me.I am not too creative with food. I leave that to the resident foodie. Which leads me back to. The morning.more chopping. First.coffee."Get in my belly"! Week one under the belt.

The Peak Condition Project - Shelly: Day 85 :: Five Days and Counting

http://thepeakconditionproject-shelly.blogspot.com/2009/12/day-85-five-days-and-counting.html

Tuesday, 8 December 2009. Day 85 : Five Days and Counting. I think Emily explained it best in her latest post, and I'll second her on the attack of senioritus! Plus, everybody and their Mom seems to want to spend their EOY marketing dollars, leaving me feeling a might bit cooked on the work front as well. Oh, and by the way, FIVE DAYS TO GO! 8 December 2009 at 10:06. Youre heading into the home-stretch, and looking fantastic! 8 December 2009 at 11:14. 8 December 2009 at 14:05. 8 December 2009 at 14:24.

Monday, September 28, 2009. Day 13; Week3, here I come! Today’s blog is going to be long because I want to review the last few days as a whole. My PCP group and I end this week’s PCP diet and workout regime today. Looking back on this week, despite having some difficult days, overall I’ve really enjoyed the food and the exercise sessions have been relatively enjoyable too and, at least they’ve been quick. I do hate lunges though; I find them so boring and not very effective. But on the whole, I’ve ...

The Peak Condition Project - Shelly: Day 78 :: My Plate Runneth Over

http://thepeakconditionproject-shelly.blogspot.com/2009/12/day-78-my-plate-runeth-over.html

Tuesday, 1 December 2009. Day 78 : My Plate Runneth Over. I'm having the hardest time coming up with blog subjects at the moment. I think I'm in the midst of a subtle freakout over the holidays, the end of PCP and, HOLY COW, the fast approaching New Year! Otherwise, I'll leave with this thought. While the workouts will get harder, I'm not so worried about them. Muscle abuse I can handle, but I think the diet is going to be more challenging these next 12 DAYS. It is just sooo much food! Oh Jonti, it takes...

The Peak Condition Project - Shelly: Day 86 :: Motivation

http://thepeakconditionproject-shelly.blogspot.com/2009/12/day-86-motivation.html

Wednesday, 9 December 2009. Day 86 : Motivation. With my group in the last lap of our program, I've been wondering if my level of motivation will hold strong. This morning I thought I might start researching some motivational tips to see what I can find. I had to laugh when I clicked the image link on my Google search, and I've posted a few of the gems here. Maybe they'll help as we push through these last. 9 December 2009 at 08:42. Thanks for the images, totally related to a few. 9 December 2009 at 09:04.

Sunday, 29 November 2009. Day 76 : Thinking, Thinking, Thinking. Thanksgiving celebrations have left me somewhat introspective. Well, the holiday and, judging from the blogs of participants past and present, peeking behind the door that PCP seems to crack open. It reminds me of when I first started exploring yoga and a teacher told me,"go carefully, this practice will change your life." Funny, where some paths lead you. There were diabetics having not one but two slices of cake, the overweight debating t...

Thursday, 1 September 2011. Training isn't enough . but it is this week. Hey all, sorry it has been so long (Patrick forgive me) . I've managed to grab an hour a day for the exercises and so have been completing almost everything. I am really chuffed that I have continued to fit it in. I missed one day in the last 7 so it ain't too bad for someone with a 13 day old baby and a life turned upside down planning hospital appointments. Thursday, April 21, 2011. You learn about mental strength, mind over matter, commitment, execution, hard work, team work, work until failure and then get back to it and do it again. The internal strength rediscovered in ourselves is invaluable. we walked the walk. we made the commit. we travelled the path. and we executed. I hope you enjoy my photo shoot :). Ok, I don't know how to organize this post! But I'm taking Tara's cue and I'm going to at least start with some fundamental lessons learned/pcp topics:. Sunday, December 19, 2010. I hope to be one of those "check out me now" one year later folks, as it's hard to change a 12 year old body blueprint. I hope I can continue this new found life style. I know that my mind is in a better place when there is "less of me" around. Grace - thank you for inspiring me to join up and give PCP a go. You've helped me more than you know. Sunday, April 25, 2010. The Wrap Up Part 2: Final Thoughts. It's been a week and a half since Day 90, and I still can't believe how fast the program went! Can't say I have anything more original to say than what has already been said, but I can detail what going through and completing the PCP has done for me:. Tuesday, November 16, 2010. First, thanks everybody for your congratulations. Simon and I are really loving our little man! Between 12:30 and 3 this morning I had an email chat with Patrick. Perhaps the time reference will tell you where this is headed. He had the sense to ask me how my PCP was going now that I have a baby. My answer: not well. The thing is, I sleep in spurts, I’m exhausted, and I just can’t give it all I’ve got. As Patrick said, why risk getting sick and why bother...So, Patrick’s...

I have been bad, not blogging for almost an entire month as I had been away a couple of times, and when I am around, things at work just became a bit too busy. Luckily, I have been staying on track (most days) with regards to the diet and exercises.
